Matt Hardy's promo: The last time Hardy was given mic time like this was when he returned to feud with Edge over Lita. Hardy blew that promo and his career suffered because of it. This promo had a Wrestlemania match depending on it and Matt did a very nice job. It was not a great promo by any means, but it was probably the best he has ever done.
MVP vs. Chavo Guerrero: The in ring action was definitely not a strength this week and even though this was a short match, it was the highlight. MVP scored the victory, so it is great to see him winning again and let's hope he is on his way toward a huge push. Chavo is always a good hand so he is going to have solid matches.
WWE Smackdown Misses
Edge's promo: Edge and Vickie making out was probably the one negative thing during their initial run as a successful heel power duo. Going back to that last night was something nobody needed or wanted to see.
Elimination Chamber qualifying matches: The Raw matches provided a surprise with Kofi Kingston getting into the Chamber match for the World Heavyweight Championships. The Smackdown matches had little to no chances for a surprise given who was in the matches. Big Show was not going to lose to Festus. Undertaker was not going to lose to Mark Henry, and Triple H was not going to lose to anybody. The matches seemed thrown out there with no real importance to them.
Umaga returns: I understand Umaga has be built up as a monster, but I felt he deserved better than this. I would have loved to see him reintroduced in a top notch program, but instead, we will be seeing weeks of squashes like this.
Overall show: Well, this was not a good week on WWE TV. Raw ended with "the angle." ECW had its worse show in a long time and perhaps ever, and this Smackdown episode left a lot to be desired. Going into Wrestlemania, WWE Creative is usually on top of their game. That was not the case this week; here's hoping they get back on a roll next week.
